Welcome to Mars Futures Forum. This is the site to come to for an “all-angles” view of Mars colonisation. We put the emphasis on Futures plural because there are currently so many possible futures for Mars and no one really knows for sure how human society on the Red Planet is going to develop. But that’s what makes it exciting!

If you have ideas for articles about Mars colonisation, please do contact us, We would love to hear from you. Remember, this site isn’t just about rockets and geodesic domes. We want to zero in on the human experience of taking part in the colonisation of Mars. This involves all aspects of human life: politics, art, sport, sociology, psychology and so on.
The first article on the Forum is about farming on Mars, which will be one of the key determinants of how successful human colonisation will be. How can we grow food on Mars in what appears to be an inhospitable environment for such an endeavour? Can we overcome the challenges: the cold, the lack of free-flowing water, radiation effects and the very thin atmosphere? We hope you find the answers in the article intriguing. Maybe you can contribute your own thoughts on this important subject in the comments.
The Forum also hosts the new Mars magazine devoted to everything about making Mars a second home for humanity – The Aresian. The magazine will be published monthly. We hope you enjoy that as well. Do take a look – there really is something for everyone.
